Re/Done Launches Non-Vintage Vintage Denim That Promise to Fit and Feel Comfortable

, Fashion, Runway, Shoes

We can’t get enough of vintage jeans, but sometimes they make it so damn difficult for us to love them. First, the search for the right pair (one that not only fits, but is the right style and wash) seems like a near impossible feat. And then when you finally find The One, that stiff vintage denim fabric makes it hard for you to move, sit, breathe. Leave it to Re/Done, the denim brand that built its business on playing matchmaker between fashion girls and the vintage Levi’s of their dreams, to solve the issue for good: with the launch of its own line of non-vintage locally produced jeans that are everything we look for in vintage denim (quality, high-waist silhouette), but are actually comfortable.

“Vintage jeans will always be a part of our brand,” says Sean Barron, one-half of the founding duo of Re/Done (the other being Jamie Mazur). “But at the same time, there are certain things that we can’t achieve with a vintage jean, and those are: stretch and a dark wash. Those were the biggest call-outs from our customer base.”

They sought to recreate and reconstruct vintage jeans through the same quality fabrics (they used the same mill as Levi’s), but with an infusion of one percent stretch. The result: Three styles—The Straight Skinny, The Relaxed Crop, and The High Rise—all treated to the same reconstructed features unique to the Re/Done brand, like twisted seams, off-centered pockets, button fly, and men’s back pockets. And while there’s stretch, yes, Barron is quick to point out that these aren’t jeggings. To the touch, they feel as rigid as a true vintage jean, but it’s only until you slip them on, do you feel a slight give, a degree of never-before-felt comfort. It took nearly a year to perfect.

And it looks like it’s paying off. Barneys, a retail partner, sold out within a week. Perhaps it has something to do with making your butt look good? We had to know.

“I can’t say that it will make every butt look great,” Barron laughs. “I gave a pair to Cindy Crawford and she said they fit her great. I will say they fit extremely well and they will fit a lot more body types. It’s the future of vintage.”
